Robert Daley

    Robert Daley is a professional artist.   He studied art at the University of Pittsburgh earning his B.A. in Studio Arts in 1972.   After several years of free-lance portrait work, he opened his own Studio/Gallery in 1979.   Since then he has done hundreds of portraits in both oil and pastel.   He is known primarily for his work as a portrait artist.

    In 1983, Mr. Daley painted a portrait of Lillian Russell for the University of Pittsburgh.  It hangs in the Student Union (formerly the Schenley Hotel) where she once lived.

    Robert has served on the Boards of the Pittsburgh Society of Artists and the South Hills Art League.  He also has exhibited in the annual shows of both organizations.   In 1983 he received the Jury Award for his portrait of Thomas Sturges and Honorable Mention in the 1987 Pittsburgh Society of Artists' Annual.

    In September 1989 he had a one-man show at the Griffith Gallery, Sewickley, PA, that was favorably reviewed by the Pittsburgh Post Gazette Art Critic, Donald Miller.

    Robert also did the painting of the three fallen firefighters from Pittsburgh (Thomas Brooks, Patricia Conroy, and Marc Kolenda) for the Memorial Service on the First Anniversary of their deaths in February 1996.

    In addition, Robert taught portraiture for the Community College of Allegheny County for fifteen years and continues to teach his own classes in oil painting techniques.
